St. John’s, Antigua – ABFA Women’s League resumed action this weekend with Argos Cement Lady Hoppers defeating Lady 5 Ps 2 – 1, Town House Megastore Ottos Tigress scoring 7 on Jennings Challengers and Cool and Smooth Empire Star Girls hold Lady Sap to  a 1 – 1 draw.

 

Lady Hoppers 2 – 1 Lady 5 Ps

Saturday’s feature match saw Lady Hoppers put in a dominate display by defeating Lady 5 Ps 2 – 1. After numerous miss chances in the first half national striker Sherry-ann Bertrand opened scoring in the 15th minute of play. Bertrand would then double the lead  with a strike from outside the 18 yard box in the 30th minute to put her team up 2 – 0 at the half. The second half would  see Lady 5Ps improved as late pressure saw them receive a penalty from a foul in the box. The penalty was slotted home in the 60th minute but Lady Hoppers would grab 3 points.

Ottos Tigress 7 – 0 Jennings Challengers

Ottos Tigress would continue their perfect run as they scored 7 goals on Sunday’s opening encounter. Georgetta Lewis would open scoring in the 16th minute then grabbed goals in the 28th and 54th for her hat trick. Miska Diaz followed with a strike in the 43rd minute, then sisters Britney and Claycia Edwards would add goals in the 57th, 59th and 65th minute. The result was Tigress 6th straight win as they remain perfect at the top of the table.

Empire Star Girls 1 – 1 Lady Sap

Sunday’s feature encounter saw Empire Star Girls face Lady Sap in a 1 – 1 draw. Returning national striker Argell London would open her season account in the 10th minute of play after showing good pace to  go past Lady Sap’s defenders. Star Girls would regroup during the first half as they began to hold more of the possession but failed to score in the first half. The second half of the match would see Star Girls equalize as Karen Warner made a run down her right side whipping in a cross which veteran Nicole Stewart headed home making the game 1 -1.
