St.John’s, Antigua – The Antigua & Barbuda Ladies made it two wins in a row after defeating Aruba in a 1 – 0 victory last evening at the ARG. The Benna Girls once again with determination and discipline overcame a very compact Aruba team.
The lone strike came in the 21 minute from captain Amelia Green who after making a run from the back, fired from over 25 yards to score on the Arubans.
The Aruba ladies put on positive display as they made themselves compact while trying to advance up to field. But the Antigua team controlled most of the possession.
In the second half the Arubans tried to attack more but the organized Antiguans stopped any attempts made. The second also had many stoppages as Aruban keeper Emily Bustillo Gonzalez, struggled after an early collision in the second half.
The earlier match between the US Virgin Islands and St. Vincent & The Grenadines ended in a scoreless draw. the Benna Girls now need to avoid defeat as they look to book a place in the Caribbean Cup finals hosted in Trinidad and Tobago.
