Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic – The Antigua and Barbuda Under 17 national team opened up their World Cup qualifying campaign with a scoreless draw in Santa Domingo.

In the Benna youths opening match they faced favorite and host nation of group 3, the Dominican Republic. After a tense first half both teams tried to find an opening which would lead to a goal but the game ended scoreless after 90 minutes.

Under 17 head coach Shcyan Jeffers stated ” the boys gave a good account of themselves, as we had lots of opportunities especially near the end to win the match.”

Jeffers expects an improved performance on Sunday ” We will look at all the right things and issues from today and see what improvements can be made on them going forward.”

The Benna Youths face Guyana at 2PM on Sunday as the Guyanese drew 1 – 1 with Barbados in the first match of group 3.
