Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten – Under 20 Captain Javorn “Bozo” Stevens double was enough for the young Bennaboys, as they defeated Cuba in a historic 2 – 1 win in Under 20 qualifying.

The Antigua and Barbuda Under 20 team began their road to the CFU finals in an opening match versus Caribbean heavyweights and group one (1) favourites Cuba. However it was the young Bennaboys who would dominate the early moments of
the match, causing the Cubans to defend heavily during the first half.

Antigua would get its breakthrough as Javorn Stevens latched on to ball inside the box, where he chipped the ball over Cuba’s Goalkeeper Jesus Flores to make it  1 – 0 in the  12th minute. The young Bennaboys would continue their attacks on the Cubans as Stevens once again fired home a well struck shot from inside box minutes later making it 2 – 0 to the surprise of the Cuban players and staff.

The Cuban’s would reorganize in the second half as they dominated possession from the midfield. It would be a mixture of good defending and hard work that would see Antigua and Barbuda claim all three points.
