Lady Swetes continued their winning ways, while Cool & Smooth Empire Star Girls copped their fourth victory in seven showings as the Football Association’s Women’s League continued at the Antigua Recreation Ground on Thursday night.

Playing in the opening contest, Swetes, who had not won a game in the tournament before 2016, produced their third victory this season with a 1-0 triumph over Lady SAP. Brianna Sharpe scored the lone goal for Swetes in the 58th minute.

The victory lifts Swetes to nine points and fourth in the standings, while SAP remains on seven points and fifth in the standings.

Meanwhile, Star Girls handed Freeman’s Village Scorpions a 4-1 defeat in the feature contest.

Patara Davis (19 minutes), Nicola Stewart (26 and 39 minutes) and Nikisha Samuel (40 minutes) scored for Star Girls, while former national striker Akeilah Hillhouse scored the lone goal for Freeman’s Village.

Star Girls move to 13 points and third place in the standings, while Scorpions occupy the cellar with one point after seven showings.

The competition continues tomorrow when Lady Wadadli 5Ps take on Lady SAP at 5:15pm, Freeman’s Village play Lady Greenbay Hoppers at 4pm, while Empire Star Girls face Lady Swetes at 6:30pm.
