The final game of the triple header in the ABFA premier division between Champion Footwear Hoppers and Asot’s Arcade Parham finished prematurely due to a block out at halftime of that game.

At that time Hoppers led 1-0 and according to officials of the ABFA, the game will be rescheduled fro Wednesday 22nd at 4:45 PM.

While all the lights did not go out, officials say that a burnt transformer nearby in downtown St. John’s caused a power surge which knocked out two sets of lights at the ARG.

The winner of this game will finish third as Lime Old Road and Special Security Services All Saints United already clinched the title and the second spot respectively.

Old Road’s win over Pigotts Bullets on Wednesday earned them the title while United’s 1-0 victory over La Bussola Willikies earlier in the day guaranteed them the second spot.

Roy Gregory scored his second goal in as many games in extra time, to give United maximum points and restrict any progress up the table for Willikies.

If Bassa defeats Cool & Smooth Empire today, then Willikies will enter the playoff against the teams that finish third and fourth in the first division for a place in the premiership next season.

Willikies tried its best to beat United and came close on a number of occasions but in the end their best was just not good enough, losing in extra time.

In the first game of the day, Sugar Ridge Sap beat Bullets 3-0, its 12th loss of the season.

Rackley “Leech” Thomas scored two early goals setting the platform for the win as Bullets takes its disappointing season to the first division.

The competition continues today with the title holders Old Road coming up against Hospitality Services Sea View Farm after Empire and Bassa battle.

Of the two games the Bassa/Farm encounter is of more importance.

Bassa, third from the bottom on 19 points, one less than Willikies needs a draw to overtake Willikies due to a superior goal difference.

Empire has already booked its ticket to the first division and win in its final game may be the signal that the first division will be a short ‘pit stop.’
