Mikele Leigertwood was visibly pleased to have made his long-awaited return to the Royals side, as he came on the final half hour on Tuesday night at Bournemouth.
Ledge has shown great character to bounce back from an ankle injury which has kept the midfielder out of action for almost exactly a year.
“It’s been great just to be involved in and around the lads. It’s been a long, long time,” Mikele said at the Goldsands Stadium.
“I’m pleased to be out there and hopefully I can get more games under my belt between now and the end of the season.
“It’s been tough. I’ve tried to work as hard as I can, keep myself as fit as possible without aggravating my injury.”
Leigertwood, who famously scored the goal that clinched promotion to the Premier League two years ago, hopes he can help the Royals once more in their bid to return to the top flight.
“We want to put bad performances behind us and we can only take care of the next game. If we do what we are capable of, then there’s no reason why we can’t reach the play-offs.
“If we can get momentum now from the last five games then it will definitely put us in good stead.”
