Rolston ‘Debu’ Williams has been named the Interim Head Coach for the Antigua and Barbuda Senior National Team and the Benna Boys head into the CFU Caribbean Cup Championship. Mr. Williams was shortlist and chosen from a list of national coaches, he was chosen for his passion for the game, dedication and record over the years.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday where he was officially presented as the interim coach ahead of next month’s CFU Caribbean Cup, Williams said that having just a little over two weeks left to prepare for the competition means there is no room for errors and that he represents the hopes and dreams of all local coaches.

“It’s come quickly and as soon as you look, two weeks, you are into the tournament, so you don’t have time. I have to get right to the point right off the bat and things have to be put in place right away, so there is no time for excuses. Right now is about productivity,” he said.

“I think right now that we as local coaches have a point to prove that we can do the job, that we are capable; we are intelligent enough of carrying the task ahead, so it’s a big challenge for us, but we are going to have to work together and I think that, all in all, I am happy with the staff I have going ahead and that we can do the job.”

A 29-member training squad was also announced for sessions slated to commence Wednesday afternoon 4:30 at the ARG.

The squad includes goalkeepers Molvin James, Keita DeCastro, Alson Forde and Omari Joseph.

Defenders George “Sowa” Dublin, Troy Dubin, Akeem “Leppy” Thomas, Jamoy Stevens, Karanjah “Nikey” Mack, Hazeley Pyle, Omar Daniel, Ranjae Christian and Gavin Lewis.

Midfielders Quinton Griffith, Luke Blakely, Lawson “Boy Blue” Robinson, Tony Thomas,Tamarley “Ziggy” Thomas, Randolph “Etty” Burton, Kimoi Alexander, Gason “Bubbler” Gregory, Eugine Kirwan, Trevaughn Harriett and Vivian Gonsalves are also included.

Forwards Peter “Big Pete” Byers, Lloyd Jeremy, Stephan Smith, Akeem Michael and Lennox “Fox” Julian round off the selections.

Tthe management team includes Lenny Hewlett and Schyan Jeffers as assistant coaches, Fernando “Nando” Abraham as manager, Carl Casey as trainer, Ervin Lewis as goalkeeper coach. Janiel “Board” Simon and Danny Benjamin will both play the role of equipment managers.

The 2012 CFU Caribbean Cup Finals will run from December 5 to 16.
