George Town, Grand Cayman – The Under 15 boys gained their first win of the Concacaf under 15 Tournament in their second match versus St. Vincent.
The young “Benna Boys” did not have a good start as St. Vincent pressed very early in the match where they almost scored with-in the first 5 minutes of play.
St. Vincent then continued to apply pressure but good organization at the back from captain Rodre Hunte kept the Vincentians from setting up any chances to score.
Midway through the first half the Antiguan team started to apply pressure of their own, which resulted in a goal from Javorn Stevens as he dribbled past defenders and fired home Antigua’s first goal of the tournament in the 23rd minute.
Unfortunately Celebrations were short lived, as St. Vincent scored from the half way line in the 37th minute against the run of play.
In the second half both teams came out aggressive searching for a winning goal. Although Antigua had better possession in the second half St. Vincent showed no signs of giving up match.
Glory for the Antigua team came in the dying moments of the match as Stevens dribbled past two defenders and placed his shot in the corner of net in 70th minute.
Antigua’s next match will be versus Haiti on Saturday August 17th at 6PM(cayman)/7PM ECT. Follow all the action on our twitter page @Antiguafa.
